Shark Fin Soap – End the Shark Fin Trade
Lush has recently released a special edition of Sea Vegetable, Shark Fin soap, in support of their latest campaign to ban shark finning. The process of shark finning is cruel and torturous to the shark. Often times sharks are caught, brought aboard a ship, the fin is cut off of the living shark and the shark is then thrown back into the water where it is left to die by suffocation, bleeding to death or being eaten by others. Additionally, sharks are in danger of being overfished due to this growing practice, altering the natural eco system of the ocean.
Shark finning is a lucrative industry due to the high demand for shark fin soup in many countries. You can do your part by boycotting any restaurant that serves shark fin soup. Shark Fin soap is available online and in stores for $5.95 for 3.5oz. Lush is donating 100% of the profits from Shark Fin soap to Shark Savers, a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect the sharks.
