Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub Review

Initial Thoughts

The first thing I noticed about Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub was its electric blue color and fine grained consistency. The smell is refreshing with hints of citrus and a subtly sweet floral scent. It reminds me of an odd balance between the ocean and the woods, a scent that you wouldn’t think would work well together but does.

I also related it immediately to Ocean Salt simply due to the blue color and because it is also a salt scrub. After using them both extensively, the two products couldn’t be any more different from one another (discussed more below).

Lush says:

Sea salt shower scrub Rub Rub Rub is a bit of a variation on the normal shower gel. Sea salt is gently exfoliating, extra cleansing and mineral rich. This new blue scrub is startlingly refreshing, with a dash of lemon juice and the tropical scent of mimosa blossom. Smooth it all over your body; you can even use it as a shampoo.

Usage

One of the unique qualities of Rub Rub Rub is that the consistency can be modified to your tastes and mood. If you feel like having a bit more exfoliation, apply Rub Rub Rub onto dry skin. On days you’re looking for something smoother and less scrub, apply it to wet skin and the salt will dissolve a bit first, leaving you with more of a shower gel that has just a hint of scrub. Add a hint of water and Rub Rub Rub can also be used as a shampoo. It is similar to Big Shampoo but with finer salt particles.

When comparing Rub Rub Rub to Ocean Salt, it was apparent that although there are similarities, each product has its own place in the lineup. Ocean Salt, in my opinion, serves as more of a deep scrubber and one that I prefer to use on my face. It’s the one you occasionally reach for when you need a good rough and deep cleanse due to the larger salt particles, citrus and vodka. The ultimate squeaky clean feeling that Ocean Salt leaves behind is one of a kind. Whereas Rub Rub Rub is the everyday body scrub. It’s not overly abrasive and  your skin will feel soft and smooth with a fine layer of moisture once its rinsed off.

Conclusion

Rub Rub Rub is a great shower gel that exfoliates as much or little as you’d like it to. It leaves your skin feeling clean and moisturized with a fantastic scent. For those with sensitive skin or cannot tolerate the higher level of scrub of Ocean Salt, Rub Rub Rub may be your perfect alternative.
